Frequently Asked Questions

How much will it cost me?

The typical retainer for a personal injury matter is a 2/3 - 1/3 split. After deducting the disbursements (court fees) from the gross amount of the settlement, the client receives two-thirds of the net settlement, and the attorney’s fee is one-third.

If there is no recovery there is no fee for the legal services.

Who is responsible for handling my case?

While we are both partners for the successful conclusion of your matter, I am personally responsible for all matters pertaining to your legal file. Your case will not be turned over to an associate, paralegal, or anyone else. I handle all matters on your case, and you will communicate only with me.

How many years of experience do you have?

I have been representing accident victims since my admission to the Bar in January 1984.

Where do you take cases?

I have represented clients in all five boroughs of New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Westchester County. Basically between Riverdale and Riverhead.

How long will my case take?

While your case will be prosecuted in a timely manner in my office, there are often factors beyond my control that dictate how quickly a case can proceed. Considering court calendars and defense counsel schedules a case can typically last two to three years. Of course, circumstances may arise in which your case may settle in several months or several years. Each case is unique.

I already have an attorney, can I still use your services?

Yes. If you have an attorney and are not satisfied with the representation you are receiving you may switch attorneys.
